The Corowa Sharks delivered a phenomenal weekend of racing at the Ovens and Murray Championships in Wangaratta, with 29 swimmers producing standout performances across a packed and highly competitive program.

A highlight of the meet came in the prestigious Dr Worch Trophy Boys 100m Freestyle, where Nicholas Tukuniu powered to an impressive second-place finish in a fast and thrilling contest.
Across the two-day carnival, the Sharks competed in 142 individual events and returned with an outstanding medal haul of 12 gold, 10 silver and 22 bronze medals.
The team also secured 62 top 10 ribbon finishes, underlining their depth and consistency.
Brothers Austin and Marshall Lees, 12 and 13 years, happy with their places, pb's and podium finishes with Austin achieving pbs in all races swam and Marshall securing 2 bronze medals.
Personal improvement proved a major feature of the weekend, with swimmers recording a remarkable 91 new personal best times.
Among those were 15 improvements of more than five seconds — a testament to the hard work and commitment shown at training.
Beyond the results, the Sharks were once again praised for their sportsmanship and team spirit.
The squad’s enthusiastic cheering, unwavering support for teammates and respect shown towards fellow competitors reflected the strong culture within the Corowa Swimming Club.
Xander Bolonis 11, secured three bronze medals.
The club extended its thanks to Ovens & Murray officials for delivering a well-run championship, along with the many volunteer parents who assisted with organisation and timekeeping duties.
Appreciation was also expressed to parents for their ongoing support, to the coaches for their dedication and guidance, and to the swimmers for their effort and positive attitude throughout the weekend.
With strong performances in the pool and exemplary conduct on deck, the Ovens & Murray Championships marked another proud chapter for the Corowa Sharks as they continue to build momentum this season.
