This Sunday from 3pm the speedway will hold their season closing final trophy events for the season with the annual Australian Motor Contest Association competitors in town for the State Challenge for AMCA Nationals battle along with the closing Production Sedan 1000 feature and plenty of club class racing.
The Ducks Race Shop Wahgunyah Pit Walk is on from 1pm for those that can get to the track and set their spot in the crowd seating area prior to the meeting start.
On the back of the Australian title for AMCA Nationals completed this past weekend in Toowoomba, Tasmanian state champion Adrian Bassett and compatriot Matt Higgins will drop into Wahgunyah where they will meet up with Rodney Bassett a perennial visitor for this event each season and Matthew Graham.
New South Wales racers David Ford, Joh Upston and John Markulin will head down and across the border and coming from around Victoria is Stephen Hopkins the current South Australian champion, Mick Kiraly, Frank Thierry, Paul Howard, Darren Bloom and John Churchyett.
Production Sedan competitors have their turn to win a $1000 with the annual season closing feature event.
Dual national champions Trevor Mills and Stephen Laidlaw will line up in the show with Corowa members Robbie Miller and Jack Bear keen to represent the host club. Scott Hawkins, Damien and Craig McAlister, and Shane Hammond are other competitors to keep an eye on when the Productions hit the clay.
A season ending points event for members of the Goulburn Ovens Sedan Association is also packed with strong competitors.
Last meeting’s winner and runner up Billy O’Donoghue and Nathan Shortis lead the entrants with a host of potential winners joining them.
Brandan Lovell, Ben Schmetzer, Tom Schmetzer, Daniel McCarten, and Justin Ewert are just some of them joining a tremendous list of Corowa member competitors including Sam Schmedje, Corey Millar, Scott McAuliffe, Marcus Maclean, and Malcolm Bassett.
A handful of Standard Saloon drivers will compete with Corowa’s Micheal Fleming-Robertson, Scott McAuliffe, Rhys Lavender and Harley Matthews to be challenged by Troy and Higgins and Thomas Miller from the Swan Hill club.
Humpy Holdens will put on a spirited demonstration with other club classes scheduled to support and to be confirmed dependant on entry numbers.
