Local sporting clubs in Victoria are encouraged to apply for new state government grants – with up to $5000 available for equipment, upskilling coaches and volunteers, and travel costs.
Applications for the latest round of the Sporting Club Grants Program have opened and will remain open until October 7.
The grants are separated into different categories of varying funding, including $5000 to help with training coaches and volunteers, $4000 for setting up a new sport or active recreation program, $1000 for uniforms and equipment, and $750 to help clubs get to away games and competitions.

Up to $250,000 available for football and netball clubs
Local football and netball clubs in Victoria are encouraged to apply for funding through the latest round of the Country Football and Netball Program.
Grants of up to $250,000 are available to support upgrades to regional sporting facilities.
Examples of projects eligible for funding include:
- developing new, or redeveloping existing change rooms and pavilions to increase capacity, inclusion and safety
- developing new, or redeveloping existing sports ovals and courts to increase capacity, inclusion and safety
- sports lighting that improves capacity, inclusion and safety. Lighting projects may include installing new LED lighting infrastructure, or replacing non-LED lighting with LED lamps to meet lighting standards
- projects that result in energy or water efficiency, with a direct impact on participation, such as warm-season grass conversions
- projects that benefit multi-use outcomes where football or netball is the primary beneficiary
