Another two debutants brought the season tally to twelve after three games.

Congratulations to Josh Pagan-Saunders and Brad Andison- Brad being the third of the Andison lads to play this year, with Jack returning from a stint at Berrigan and Caleb playing in the first game but missing since with a badly injured finger, injury permitting.

The Cats will hopefully see the three in action together in the coming weeks.

While there were some positives to come out of the game against a highly skilled unit the result was disappointing for the young group as they did control parts of the game with no reward for their effort.

With the return of Scott Meyer, the injury hit Rutherglen backline was always going to be under sized and this proved the case with plenty of run off half back the defenders were always under pressure throughout the day.

Pleasing signs with Jake Goddard playing his best game for Rutherglen and hard nut Tommy Allison finding his feet at senior level, Mitch Huggins also showed glimpses of what the future will be with more exposure at senior level.

Jack Andison was once again very good for the third straight week.

Reserves

A tough day with plenty of outs in both seniors and reserves meant the side had a lot of changes from the successful side of the previous week, a credit to the coaches for lining up with a full compliment of players. Fitness was always going to be the main issue against a strong Chiltern side, and this proved the case with many goals being conceded in the latter half of each quarter. The additions of Jack Keys, Judd Kuschert and Charlie Beattie added spark to assist Aaron Field and Luke Knight in the middle, with Matt Peacock and Eli Knight strong in defence.

Under 17s

With a few lads back from seniors and illness a strong side lined up for an always important game vs Chiltern, with first use of the ball out of the centre Rutherglen had the first major with less than thirty seconds into the game, the first quarter was a dominate display with quick ball use the highlight. Chiltern tightened the game up in the second and early stages of the third to get the score back to five goals midway into the third however Rutherglen found another gear to kick away quite comfortably in the end. Dominate performances by Luke Nicholson and Judd Kuschert in the midfield and Tom Ford, Fred Jackson and surprise packet Lenny Hill in defence have the side primed for challenging performance vs Thurgoona next week.

Under 14s

The 14s continued their strong start to the year with a dominate performance against lasts years premiers. With only conceded three points in their first three games the side now finds itself atop of the ladder. Jack Torney continued his strong showing around goal with seven to his name while another seven players chimed in to assist.

More strong performances from the usual suspects in Logan Poole, Bill Linden, Flynn Verhulst and Aaron Lewis-Carmichael had the ball deep in the Rutherglen half for the majority of the game. The second half was particularly strong with a disciplined display from the on-ball brigade with not becoming overzealous with goal kicking.
