The Berrigan Saints hosted the Finley Cats for the clash which was played on consecutive days to give the sides a rest for the Australia Day weekend.
Winning the toss, the Saints elected to bat and declared at 9/304 after 72 overs.
On day one, the Saints’ top order were able to get themselves set against the Cats bowling, with Andrew Parr scoring 51 runs, Jacob Bartlett 56 runs and Rory Bartlett 63 runs.
This allowed Harley Middleton freedom to take after the Finley attack, scoring 71 from 45 balls hitting eight sixes and three fours.
For the Cats’ bowlers and fielders, it was a hard slog all day with Archie Mason (3/90 off 21 overs) and Harrison King (3/66 off 16 overs) producing the majority of the wickets.
Spin from both ends through the middle of the innings saw the run rate drop and chances come with Cougar McGrath (0/66 off 18 overs) and Justin Crowley (1/44 off 11 overs) both bowling great spells.
The Cats were sent in to bat with eight overs to see out, finishing the day 1/21.
When play resumed on Sunday, the Saints bowling was on fire with a depleted Finley side bowled out for 71 after 41 overs.
Jacob Bartlett took 3/12, and Brady and Rory Bartlett took two wickets each.
Harrison King (21) and Marcus Anderson (22) stood out for the Cats in the first batting innings.
With 47 overs remaining in the day, Berrigan enforced the follow on, which again saw the Saints bowlers dominate, bowling Finley out for 84 after 40 overs.
Russell Anderson (33) Harrison King (12) and Justin Crowley (15) all batted well for the Ctas.
Jacob Bartlett, Matthew Ross and Rory Bartlett all took two wickets each for the Saints.
Berrigan won by an innings and 149 runs, and Harley Middleton earned himself the Saints’ Tim Harris Transport Award for his batting and bowling figures of 1/12 and 1/8.
