The event was successful after several years of being unable to hold a presentation night due to Covid restrictions.
It was nice to finally get together and enjoy a night of laughs.
President Brendon Eames said thanked everyone for their commitment over the season with over 80 people attending the event.
"It is great to see the support after the few years of Covid and then with the disappointing 2022 season of rainouts it. Thankfully, we end the season on a good night,” he said.
Wahgunyah this season has seen drivers come from as far as Tasmania and even Queensland to compete at the 630 metre track operating in the same location since 1958.
With such history behind the club it is great to see it is still going strong and with great support from its members.
Presentation for the night included local Classes for Production Sedans, Standard Saloons, Unlimited Sedans, GOSA, Vic Sports and Open Juniors.
Production Sedans saw Jack Bear take out the win, Wodonga's Micheal Fleming taking out the Standard Saloons, Unlimited Sedans also Wodonga based Wayne Eames, Gosa with local Justin Brockley, Vic Sports another Wodonga local Joel Copeland and finally Open Juniors saw Marcus Maclean take out the overall points for the season.
Club Champion for the 2020/2021 Season was taken out by local Ross Maclean while Justin Brockley was awarded Club Champion for season 2021/2022. These recognitions show their is some very hard and fast racing to get this award.
Another great award handed out for the night was Most Improved Driver for the 2020/2021 season awarded to local Riley Balins in Juniors, with one of the club’s older drivers Keith Cattermole from Jindera taking out Most Improved for the 2021/2022 season.
The Best Presented award was very hard to choose as a lot of cars are always so well presented. For the 2020/2021 season local Jack Bear took it out in his VS Commodore Production Sedan and for the 2021/2022 season Numurkah Tristan McGraw took it out in FG Falcon in Vic Sports.
The special award for the club which is the Mick Bunt Award in memory of Mick. This award is for those who are passionate about the sport and help anyone within the sport like Mick did. For the 2020/2021 season Justin Brockley had the honours and the 2021/2022 season Micheal Fleming was honoured with this very special award.
Finally, the President’s award. None other than the Copeland Family from Wodonga deserved this award. They have put many hours into the club, and it was noticed by many.
To end the night, the handed out a Life Membership. This year it was awarded to a local who has been around Wahgunyah Speedway for a very long time still helping today. Butch Davis was handed Life Membership for the years he has put into the club, without people like him and many others Wahgunyah wouldn’t be as successful as it is now.
The first race meeting for the 2022/2023 season will be November 19, 2022.
Ross Maclean was awarded the 2020/21 Club Champion.
