“They were missing a few players, so they tried to rearrange, but the league wouldn’t let them.
“It means we miss out on that game which is disappointing, but we get the win which is good.”
The Wanderers have another chance to play host at Rotary Park tomorrow when they welcome the Strathfieldsaye Colts for round three.
The game is scheduled for 2pm.
Plant said with the Colts, it is hard to know what to expect as it has been a while since the two teams faced off.
“They weren’t in the division last year but have come down a division this year. It is hard to know how good they’ll be.
“When I last played them, a long time ago, they seemed to be at our level.
“They beat Echuca-Moama last week six to one, so they seem pretty strong.
“We’re not overconfident going into the game, but are still confident in ourselves to give it a crack.”
On the training grounds, Plant said his team had been focusing on their defence for the Colts, who have scored eight goals across the last two matches.
“This week at training, we’ve been working on our defensive structure and defensive shape too.
“They scored six goals last week so are a very attacking side.
“We have to try not to concede too many goals.”
