Another disappointing result however with the injuries mounting the result was not unexpected.
The returns of Ben Pleming and Jack Holmes helped with both holding their own. Jack was strong in the ruck giving plenty of service to hard nut Tommy Allison, Ryan Milthorpe and Jack Andison. Jack’s goal being quite possibly the worst goal ever seen at Barkly Park, a shank from fifty that dropped short and bounced over the stumbling defenders to provide one of the highlights of the day.
Bennet Thomas once again resembled a wrestler and proved to be a difficult proposition for the Yack key forwards, brother Nathan Thomas’s forward career was short lived with him returning down back early in the game to assist his brother.
The main highlight of the day was the three Andison lads, Brad, Jack, and Caleb who were able to play a game with their father Matty after the late call-up, the first time all four have had the opportunity to take the field together.
Matty has been a loyal servant and deserved this achievement. The only downside was Matty being a blubbering mess after the game as the emotion of the achievement became too much.
After nine long weeks the lads now finally have a weekend off.
Awards: Complete Body Craft Mug – Jack Holmes, Rutherglen Butcher – Tommy Allison, Rutherglen Pizza – Bennet Thomas.
Reserves
Cats 1.3, Yack 16.18
Once again, the Cats were cruelled by injuries and fielded a below strength team from the side of the previous week.
A late out in the seniors also had Matty Andison get a late call up. A few old faces well past their prime stepped up and performed nobly, except for Duane Moloney who was poor and resembled a statue.
Dennis Watson turned the clock back with dash from defence until a head knock forced him out, Jonno Keys kicked the only major and for the first time of the year looked like he had played the game before.
Brad Potter and Matt Curran held the backline together and prevented what could have been an ugly result into honourable. Olly Noble and Aaron Field were both excellent in the middle against insurmountable odds. Other notable performances were Eli Knight, Jarrod Bowering, Matt Peacock, Jimbo Plummer and Judd Kuschert for his second outing.
Awards: Winslow Civil Mug – Olly Noble, Silver Key yeti – Brad Potter, Rutherglen Pizza – Matty Peacock.

Cats 17.11, Yack 3.6
Second vs third with the game expected to be an indication of where each side is placed in the pecking order, from the end of the first quarter the Cats had total control of the game through the midfield efforts of Luke Nicholson and Charlie and Rory Beattie.
The rise of Jaydon Baldwin with his dash off halfback and the good decision making of Fred Jackson held the defensive line tight and proved too hard for the opposition to crack.
Angus Williams continued to hit the scoreboard with six goals while Charlie Beattie chimed in with four from the midfield.
Declan Thomson is growing into the season with strong performances in his last few outings as he transitions to midfield time while Noah McSweeney continued his improvement with another strong performance. The Cats ran out big winners with their best outing as a team for the year.
Awards; EDC Cash – Archer Colvin, Rutherglen Pizza – Rory Beattie, Ford Family – Mitch Francis, Flashes Five – Declan Thomson, Silver Key Café – Lenny Hill.

Cats 4.4, Yack 4.13
With two of the top sides coming together a tough hit-out was expected and that is how the game panned out, with a quarter time score of 3 points against 5 points an indication of a close contest.
From the start to the finish the score changed on many occasions, the young Cats held sway at the midway point of the game however just couldn’t hold on in a close last quarter. Harry Chandler again proved himself clever around goal with two majors, Jai Nicholson started down back in a different move and held strong throughout the game, onballers Flynn Verhulst and Logan Poole continued their dominant seasons and were well serviced by big Bill Linden who is the dominate ruckman in the league. Youngster Liam Colvin was rewarded with midfield time as he transitions from 12s to 14s with ease.
Awards; Lawler Transport – Harry Chandler, Corowa Sports Power – Bill Linden, Rutherglen Pizza – Flynn Verhulst, Silver Key Café – Jai Nicholson, Coaches – Logan Poole.

A tight game of footy with the only real difference was the ability of Yackandandah to impact the scoreboard, the young Cats held strong through their defence and into the middle of the ground however the transition to goals was down on most weeks. The return of Noah Cracknel was welcome as his dash was important while Elijah McFarlane and Blair Livingston-Laing were strong around the fall of the ball. Kasey Rhodes and Tyler Mullavey continued their good season and Cody Johnson in defence was his usual rock repelling many advances at goal.
Awards; Slopes Cash – Noah and Elijah, Silver Key Café – Blair and Kasey, Rutherglen Lolly Shop – Tyler, Coaches – Cody J.
