In the two-game series for the Young Guns against a selection of the state's best under 18 boys footballers, Longmire was named the best Young Gun against Vic Metro in his team’s 20 point win on Sunday, May 7 at Trevor Barkly Beach Oval in Sandringham.
Although quieter the following week against Vic Metro on Sunday, May 14, the onballer still made his presence felt.
Selected by AFL recruiters, the Young Guns team comprised players eligible for selection in the mid-season draft.
All players in the Young Guns squad have been eligible for the AFL Draft prior to this year and were aged 19 or under as of January 1, 2023 with some having since turned 20.
Longmire, who turns 19-years-of-age on June 14, has played well for Collingwood in the VFL.
Regional Talent Operations Head for the Murray Bushrangers Mick Wilson has been most impressed with Longmire’s progress through the Bushies over the last two years combining his football at Assumption College.
“He was invited to Collingwood preseason and was so impressive he became part of the leadership there,” Wilson told The Free Press “and selected for the Young Guns.
“He’s definitely on the radar for some clubs. Primarily recruits are picked for special positions.
“Jedd can play inside mid-field and is a goalkicker – he can also play forward. There surely will be some interest in him for the mid-draft.”
