Retired Senior Lecturer and research Entomologist at the former University of Adelaide and Roseworthy Agricultural College. Passionate photographer of native Australian plants, especially orchids and fungi, as well as hotels and historic buildings. Reviewer of scientific papers for the online journal Zootaxa for many years. Keen observer of science and politics. Wordle tragic.

Dearly loved by his wife Beverly, and stepdaughters Caitlin, Imogen and Miranda. Very much loved by his sister Meredith and niece Melonie. Proud Grandpa to Jack, Liam, Sienna and Alexander.

Privately cremated

Thank you to the nurses and staff of Kimberley House and his specialist Dr Wilfred Jaksic, who shared John’s long journey with CLL with professionalism and good humour.
