Murray Felines 1.1-7 def by Wangaratta Rovers 3.14-32
The women’s team started off sluggishly in the first quarter allowing their opponents off to a quick start. From the first quarter it was a tough game for the Felines to get back into the contest.
However, after the first quarter, the team started to work together and running the ball. Though it was not reflected on the scoreboard, the Felines improved dramatically and were able to take the game up to the strong Rovers team.
The back line lead by Kaitlyn Robinson were stoic in defence and thwarted many Rovers attacking moves.
Claire Megaritty showed true determination in her relentless attack on the ball and to lead by example.
Special mention must be made of Lucy Anderson who playing her second game of football, really got into the game and was everywhere racking up possessions.
The Felines enthusiasm and team work grew as the match went on, and though Rovers were the better team, there was plenty of good sings for the team.
Goals: Emily Nicholson.
Best: Kaitlyn Robinson, Jane McInnes, Sophie Nicholson, Claire Megarrity, Olivia Sheldrick, Laura Daw.

The strong Under 17 Felines came up against an improving Rovers team coached by the wily Kylie Barton.
From the opening bounce, the centre lines players led by Ava Loughnan and Ali Jackson proceeded to dominate the proceedings and created enormous drive from the centre. Both of these players are great to watch with Ava’s evasive skills and Ali’s racking left foot kick showing everyone how to run and kick the ball.
From the solid start in the first quarter, the team started to develop the yips in front of the goals with the wayward scoring the only blemish from the game.
Hannah Loughnan showed her potential with some great marking and running with the ball. Georgia Thomas developed her confidence as the game went on and dominated the contested marking in the forward line.
Sophie Kelly took advantage of here time on the field to demonstrate the rapid improvement in her game over the past 12 months.
Paige Duffy provided plenty of drive wherever she was placed on the field as did Latoya Holdsworth who is playing extremely well as an underage player.

It was a pleasing performance from the team and underlines their continued improvement.
On the half forward line, Anatasia Lairson was instrumental in setting up plenty of forward moves and kicked the first goal for the Felines in the match. Other notable games came from Abbey Ibrahim.
The team will take a lot of confidence out of the game with some continued improvement on their football skills, they will be competitive for the remainder of the season
There are still positions available for the under 14 team, so the Felines are particularly welcoming if there are any young aspiring girls who would like to have a go at football and to join in the fun.
