The 53-year-old TV personality is too "paranoid" to return to the Los Angeles property, despite it having undergone mould remediation, as she continues treatment for what she describes as mycotoxin poisoning, which McCarthy says began with a persistent toothache in October 2024.
According to the Cleveland Clinic, mycotoxins are "products of certain fungi and moulds that can cause illness in animals and people". Exposure can cause flu-like symptoms, although the health effects can vary.
Mycotoxins can enter the body through skin absorption, ingestion or inhalation.
On the latest episode of The Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg Show podcast, the star explained the dental problem spiralled into multiple surgeries, tooth removals, mysterious growths and dental implants falling out.
"Somehow that led me down a rabbit hole of doctors, surgeries, teeth being pulled, mysterious growths popping up in places you are not expecting, implants literally falling out, and eventually realising my immune system was fighting something so much bigger," she said.
McCarthy added she was "so desperate to heal" that she moved into a tent.
The former Playboy model became increasingly desperate for answers after experiencing "medical fatigue".
After undergoing testing for mould exposure, she received a frightening phone call from her physician in December 2025.
The Masked Singer judge claimed her doctor said: "Jenny, you've got serious mould. You've got the type of mould that causes seizures.
"If this thing crosses the blood-brain barrier, I'm going to be talking to you in hospital. You're going to start seizing. We've got to get on this immediately.'"
McCarthy said the diagnosis helped to explain why her immune system was "so under attack", as well as the multiple symptoms she had experienced, including chalazions - cysts that grew on her eyelids - infections and tooth problems.
Although the mould in her home has been remediated, McCarthy remains frightened about returning.
