'So humbled': AFL great Modra thankful for support

Modra was hurt when a fallen tree branch crashed through the windshield of a truck he was driving near his cattle property south of Adelaide.

The 57-year-old posted a heartfelt message on Instagram on Tuesday, accompanied by a photo of him with his wife and two children.

Modra highlighted the SA Ambulance service, the South Coast District Hospital where he was initally taken before being transferred to the Flinders Medical Centre in Adelaide's south, where he had surgery.

"I'm getting out and about a bit now, and slowly catching up on everything I missed over the last month," Modra wrote.

"I'm so humbled to learn how many people were cheering these incredible medical teams on … and our family too.

"I'll never be able to thank everyone enough."

Modra, renowned as among the most spectacular players in AFL history, kicked 588 goals in 165 games for the Crows and Dockers between 1992-2001.
