Ten highly credentialled entertainers enthralled good size crowds with their country and western music.
“It was another great success,” promoter and organizer of all 13 festivals, Joyce Yates told The Free Press.
“I started a country festival at Barham 20 years ago. Everyone loved it. Then it was on to Tooleybuc.
“Then Corowa rang us and we’ve had it here since 2007. It’s promoting a lot of people, giving them a chance to get going.
“This is a great venue with two big entertainment areas, upstairs with the Federation Room and the downstairs Auditorium. Hundreds of people have come through the doors and so many have travelled miles to see their stars.”
Joyce plays the organ but doesn’t sing which has been great news for other singers. As a song writer, Joyce has written eight albums of song.
Internationally acclaimed award winning musician from Temora, Craig Giles, loved being back in Corowa. “I love it because I lived in nearby Finley for 25 years,” he said.
“I’ve performed overseas including the USA and Corowa is right up there enjoyment-wise.”
Singer/guitarist Col Thomson from Newcastle way always has a big following too which was the case at Corowa last weekend.
“They’ve been great mobs of people. It’s the first time I’ve been here,” Col, who delighted the crowds with his songs which included a good dose of yodeling.
The music of brilliant duo Merri Winter and Tony Martin had the ladies boot-scooting and couples taking to the dance floor, and joining in the beautifully delivered music.
