In Moira Shire, overall criminal incidents recorded were up 6.7 per cent in the past 12 months.
The LGA recorded 2410.2, family incidents per 100,000 residents, making it an increase of 12.3 per cent compared to last year.
Breach family violence order was the most recorded criminal incident, with 239 cases recorded, compared to 222 in the previous year.
However, total offences recorded were down in Cobram with 823 recorded, compared to 1048 in the previous year.
State Member for Ovens Valley Tim McCurdy said Victorians deserved to feel safe and that criminals would be held accountable.
“Our police do an incredible job, but they need the resources, numbers and support to keep our communities safe,” he said.
“The Liberals and Nationals have a plan to put more police on the front line, strengthen our justice system and put victims and community safety first.”
Victoria Police deputy commissioner regional operations Bob Hill said general levels remained elevated, reinforcing the need for Victoria Police to maintain a strong focus on prevention and enforcement activities.
“Community safety is maximised when our people are visible, proactive and focused on frontline policing,” he said.
“By continuing to modernise the way we deploy our workforce, we are increasing our capacity to prevent crime, target emerging issues and provide a stronger policing presence where it matters most.
“Victoria Police will continue to focus on prevention where we can, enforcement where we must, and maintaining the visible, proactive policing presence that communities in this state rightly expect and deserve.”
