Federation Council, the Lions Club of Corowa and the Corowa Local Health Advisory Committee (LHAC) launched the free, practical guide designed to help the community shift from silence to supportive action.
Recent data shows that youth mental health challenges, such as anxiety and depression, are higher in the Murrumbidgee region than the NSW state average, making local grass-roots support more important than ever.
As part of the broader Vibe Check Youth Mental Health Intervention Project, 31 local residents completed Youth Mental Health First Aid training across Corowa, Howlong, and Mulwala under the expert guidance of senior psychologist, John Dean.
The project’s objective is to strengthen community capacity, reduce stigma, and ensure young people across the region feel safe and supported within the local clubs and organisations they already know and trust.
Among those trained were Beth Robinson from the Mulwala Football Netball Club (FNC) and Haylee Wilson from the Rennie FNC.
They completed the specialised training and have picked up copies of the Vibe Check Toolkit to implement within their respective clubs.
Any adult who interacts with young people, including sports coaches, club volunteers, teachers, school staff, local employers, parents, and caregivers is encouraged to secure a copy.
Physical booklets can be collected at any Federation Council office or library with a free digital version and additional helpful factsheets available to download from the council’s website.
