Specific equipment for the nurse practitioners assessment room at Corowa Hospital is to be purchased, courtesy of a $15,000 donation from Corowa Revamp Op Shop.
The equipment will include a wall-mounted diagnostic system with otoscope, a deluxe emergency/triage chair bed for assessing patients on and redevelopment of the new waiting room area.
“We have commenced a new model of care for patients who present to the emergency department that will reduce wait times whilst providing a high standard of care that will link back in with the patient’s general practitioner,” Cluster Manager/Director of Nursing Health Murrumbidgee Local Health District Mark Massey said.
“The use of nurse practitioners in the emergency department will greatly enhance the level of service offered to the Corowa community.”
Mr Massey said the ongoing support of the Corowa Hospital by the town’s revamp op shop is greatly appreciated.
Corowa Revamp Op Shop has donated to various health-related organisations over the years and had no hesitation in selecting the Corowa Hospital on this occasion.
“Locally, the hospital benefits all Corowa and district residents,” the revamp op shop’s Florence Hudson told The Free Press.
