Finley Lions Club members held the final Saturday morning wood raffle for the 2026 season last Saturday.

John O’Rourke was declared the winner - a most deserving win as John works extremely hard, as do all Lions Club members, to assist with fundraising which in turn helps the local community.
There was an extra draw on Saturday for the handmade fire pit, which is an added bonus each year. All tickets purchased throughout the season were kept and included in the draw.
An excited Lauren Kerr was happy to be the lucky winner and delighted to attend the venue to inspect her prize.
Finley Lions Club president Bill Judd would like to thank everyone who supports this project.
Several people who are not particularly in need of the wood frequently give a donation instead.

The volunteers who give their time to attend to the Finley Hospital Auxiliary Op Shop are extremely disappointed to have had a yellow and green garbage bin stolen from the back of the shop.
They are not only affected by the callousness of this act, but will also have to cover the extensive cost of replacement; funds which would otherwise be used to provide extra facilities for the local hospital.
If by some chance anyone has knowledge of this incident, or has seen the yellow and green bin, it would be much appreciated if you could call into the op shop and let the ladies know.

Just a reminder that Finley Public School P&C will host a High Tea fundraiser on Sunday, September 27 at the School of Arts Hall with guest speaker and acclaimed author, Rosalie Ham, in attendance.
The doors will open at 2pm for a 2.30pm start.
Tickets are $50 each which includes a glass of champagne on arrival, catered High Tea and presentation by the guest speaker. They are available via the P&C Facebook page.

Another reminder that Finley Local Health Advisory Committee members will be holding ‘Dying to Know Day 2026’ on Monday, September 21 at the Finley RS Club from 10am to noon.
Subjects covered will include palliative care - what this means and what it looks like; advance care planning; planning for your future health care; enduring guardianship; directing decision making; and preparing a will.

The Finley RSL Sub-branch street stall held last Friday was an outstanding success.
The organisers, Lorraine Edwards and Pat Radford, were excited to announce that more than $1200 was raised and would like to thank everyone for the continuing support.
The raffle winners were: 1st prize of a hand crotched rug Joyce Brain; 2nd prize a handmade cheese board Pat Radford.
