A loaded handmade gun, other firearms, ammunition and drugs were seized by police from a business and a house in Numurkah on Wednesday, September 2.
As part of an ongoing investigation, Cobram Crime investigation Unit detectives executed search warrants at a business on Station St, along with a property on Melville St in the early hours of Wednesday.
Police seized an array of ammunition, firearms and drugs from the locations, including a loaded homemade handgun.
With the assistance from the Critical Incident Response Team, a man was arrested at the Station St business and taken to a police station.
Detectives then executed a third search warrant at a property in Centenary Dve in the Gippsland town of Trafalgar, where they located further ammunition.
A 49-year-old Trafalgar man, who has been living and working in Numurkah during the week for several months, has been charged with multiple offences, including a prohibited person possessing a firearm, a prohibited person possessing an imitation firearm, possessing ammunition and drug possession.
He was refused bail and has been remanded in custody to next appear at Shepparton Magistrates’ Court in October.
