The Apex Club of Corowa’s popular steam train is out of action for a while.
Rust issues, a hole, and wear and tear on the steam train’s 35-year-old boiler have taken their toll.
The steam train is particularly popular at the annual three-day Federation Festival in January with an estimated 6,000 riders and is also well patronised at the monthly Rotary market, special events and private functions.
“We’ve had a lot of messages on Facebook as to why it’s not working and we want to get the message out there through The Free Press,” Apexian Life Member Greg Dickins said.
“Kids are disappointed. But repair work is necessary. There needs to be a certified boiler person to fix it.”
It will cost time and money. Apexians also want to see the train the club has had for some 70 years running again. Any enquiries can be referred to Greg Dickins on 0419 485 253.
