The choir performed for residents at Cobram Regional Care Ottrey Homes and Numurkah Pioneer Lodge, sharing a lively program of music and spending time talking with residents after each performance.
Songs such as Elton John’s Crocodile Rock and Neil Diamond’s Sweet Caroline proved to be crowd favourites, with residents singing along, clapping and enjoying the chance to hear familiar tunes performed by the students.
Katamatite Primary School principal Jason Whiteley said the tour was a wonderful example of students connecting with their wider community.
“The students were outstanding,” he said.
“They sang with confidence, spoke beautifully with residents and represented our school with real pride.
“These are the sorts of experiences students remember because they are not just performing, they are contributing to their community.”

Mr Whiteley said the positive response from residents and staff at both venues showed the value of giving students opportunities beyond the school gate.
“It was terrific to see our students out in the community and making a positive contribution,” he said.
“They should be very proud of the way they performed and the way they interacted with residents.”
The choir program is supported by school parent Jac Monk, who gives her time to rehearse with students, prepare them for performances and help organise opportunities such as the regional tour.
“We are very fortunate to have Jac supporting our choir,” Mr Whiteley said.
“She gives so much time and energy to the students. Her enthusiasm for music is infectious, and she has helped create something really special for our school.”
Katamatite Primary School thanked Cobram Regional Care Ottrey Homes and Numurkah Pioneer Lodge for warmly welcoming the students and supporting the choir’s regional tour.
