Year 2 students from P-12 College Yarrawonga had a fascinating trip to the Yarrawonga Mulwala Visitor Information Centre, as part of their history unit recently.
Students had the privilege to delve into the rich past of Yarrawonga, exploring the Customs House and the historic Yarrawonga Mulwala Bridge which turns 100 in December.
The experience kicked off with a captivating talk from Bruce McKean, a valued member of the Yarrawonga Mulwala Historical Society.
Bruce shared intriguing insights about the early colonies and the unification of two states, bringing history to life with his stories.
The students were then treated to a special tour of the Customs House and the history of the bridges by Alex and Ann Sloane.
Alex and Anne provided a detailed explanation of the customs house's significance and its historical evolution, enriching the students' understanding of our local heritage.
