Rutherglen has recorded a strong Round 3 win over Dederang Mount Beauty Football Club, running out 38-point victors in ideal conditions at Mt Beauty.
In clear weather on a perfect autumn day, Rutherglen controlled much of the contest to finish with 12.14 (86) to Dederang’s 7.6 (48).
While the margin suggests a comfortable result, Rutherglen’s inaccuracy in front of goal prevented the scoreboard from reflecting their work around the ground more heavily.
Several key contributors stood out for the visitors, with Thomas Kilpatrick influential both in the ruck and when resting forward, providing a strong aerial presence around the ground.
Khris Willett was superb in defence, repeatedly cutting off opposition attacks with his intercept marking and spoiling, while Jarryd Hatton was lively across half-forward and finished with three goals.
Baxter Lane-Gee proved a constant threat inside 50, booting four goals in an impressive display, and Brendan Morris provided plenty of drive from half-back, using the ball effectively and helping transition play with his run and carry.
Rutherglen will now turn its attention to a major challenge, preparing to face competition powerhouse Kiewa Sandy Creek Football Club at Barkly Park this Sunday following ANZAC Day.

This week we made the trip to Mount Beauty to take on the Bombers on a clear, sunny but chilly morning.
The team started well kicking 2 early goals with some good team football on display.
The young Cats continued this momentum in the second and third quarters applying high pressure around the contest and moving the footy quickly, providing several shots on goal, unfortunately we were a little inaccurate resulting in a few behinds.
The final quarter would see the Cats control the game eventually running out comfortable winners in a solid team performance.
Well done Cats!

The team was short on numbers this weekend, but you wouldn't have known it.
Everyone stood up to the challenge, contesting until the very end.
Georgie lit up the goal ring, putting up 26 of the teams 32 goals, and Bylee was crucial in defence, causing many deflections that kept us in the game.
It went down to the wire, and we leveled the score with ten seconds to go. A few more minutes, and we'd have had them!
We look to go one better next time.

May have lost, but the score didn't reflect how hard the girls worked.
Jackie in C had a great game through the midcourt with lots of interceptions and playmaking then stepped into GA and created space in the ring.
Tahlia in GK was strong all game with great rebounds, well backed up by Lucy in GD who also had a solid game. Really good team effort all round.

Very proud of our team this week.
Everyone played their role and took on feedback instantly in a strong four-quarter effort.
Cadie was clinical in defence, with many tops to the ball and rebounds that we were able to capitalise on in attack, led by the steady shooting of Holly.
When the game got tight and the spectators got loud, our girls kept calm and controlled, unfortunately just falling short at the final whistle. We'll get them next time!
