In all, seven rowers and a coxswain competed across 12 races, winning four silver and two bronze medals over the 1000m course.
Day one saw three medals heading Corowa way.
The first to add to the tally was a silver, when Nick Wragge and Darren McMahon competed in the E category double scull.
They held off fierce competition from three other crews to nudge ahead of the others to gain their well-earned bronze medal.
Julie Underwood E category bronze medalist.
The hard work of Julie Underwood was rewarded when she competed in her masters single.
Fighting hard against tough opposition from scullers in the Victorian crew Julie powered to the line to claim the bronze medal.
Julie then teamed up with Darren to take on the competition in the E category mixed double scull, adding another silver medal to their haul as they rowed strongly as a combination.
Other results from day one included a fourth place for Darren in the men’s single scull, missing out on a bronze medal by .11 seconds, fifth place for Liz Sandow in her single scull, fifth place for the female masters D coxless quad of Julie, Liz, Gretje and Kylie Krause, and sixth place for the double scull combination of Gretje and Kylie.
Day two saw challenges thrown at the Corowa crews, with delays in the program due to lighting and poor conditions, including wind and rain.
The Sunday group had the addition of Susie Scott and cox Edie Tomlinson, who braved the conditions with the others to again bring home three medals for the club.
In the double scull, the combination of Susie and Liz rowed hard to earn themselves a bronze medal as they showed their skills.
Julie joined a composite crew which included rowers from South Melbourne/Albert Park, and she fitted in well to help bring that crew a silver medal
And in one of the final events for the regatta, the crew of Liz, Susie, Kylie and Julie, steered expertly by Edie, proved formidable, and despite the hairy conditions and rain delays, earned themselves a silver medal, a reward for sticking with the regatta.
Other credible Sunday results included Darren and Kylie who were fourth in the mixed masters.
The Corowa Masters were few, but their results showed the efforts of their training, guided by coaches Wes Canny and Dermot Balaam.
Rowing will continue on Sundays, and during the week.
The club’s gym is open to allow rowers to train and prepare for next season.
The club welcomes new rowers, young or old, to learn this sport which is great for fitness but also provides friendship and a great environment to be part of.
