The regatta has been an ideal platform for our rowers to compete in their first regatta, before the Murray Rowing Association regatta begins January 15 and 16.
It was a great turnout with 35 competitors hitting the water with many competing for the first time after months of training.
Coxswains Emma, Charlie, Lucas, and Harry all steered well giving them the confidence for the rest of the regatta season.
The club’s newest rowers took advantage of rowing in multiple crews and events, teaming up with our more experienced rowers, gaining much needed racing.
The day featured racing in singles, doubles, quads, and the popular time trial Octa scull.
The U15 boys had a great battle down the course in their singles with Harry holding of the fast finishing Noah.
The boys will team together to race in the U15 double sculls in future regattas.
The U15 girls featured Adelyn, Maci and Dakota in the single scull race. Maci moved out in front and rowed a well-timed race to hold of Adelyn with Dakota in 3rd place.
The club has welcomed some new faces this year with Tink’s, Marlee, Maddison, Anastasia and Ashley competing while Eric, Harry and Noah also proved their hard work was paying off.
The club’s experienced rowers led by Julie, Susie, Liz, Tam and Grietje passed on their knowledge as Clancy, Emily, Bella, Abby, Sommers, and Imogen rowed in multiple events with different combinations.
Spencer, Liam, Brodie, Lachie and Alex showed we have depth in our male squads as we prepare for Moodemere and the State Championships to be held in Ballarat early March .
The Hogan family crew featuring Susie, Lachie, Sommers, Erik, and Cox Will took out the final of the quad scull.
It was a great day of racing finishing just before the rain came down. Thanks to all the rowers and the volunteers who made the day a success. Thanks to Santa who made a guest appearance proving very popular with the kids.
The Club now prepares for Lake Moodemere on January 15 and 16.
The regatta is run by the three local clubs, Rutherglen, Wahgunyah, and Corowa as we host some of the best club crews from Victoria.
