A trip to Wahgunyah for Sunday’s match had the boys in high spirits. Looking to bounce back from last week, the boys were out of the blocks quickly, moving the ball cleanly through the midfield and creating opportunities in the forward line. Cooper Patten was in everything, slotting a goal early to get the boys on the board. By the end of the first term, they had kicked 2.3 and were up and about. A continuation of this high-energy approach saw further returns in the second term, with Will Massey and Will Forrest chiming in with goals of their own.
Riding high on a sold first half, the boys came out more slowly in the third term, and Yarrawonga took advantage, moving the ball into the Roos backline and asking questions of Harry Webb and Hudson Bilney in the backline. The boys were chasing hard on the ball, particularly through Levi Arnold and Leo Davis who didn't stop running all game. However, while they had plenty of opportunities, the boys struggled to kick the ball through the big sticks, opening the door for a surging Yarra side.
Coach Patto asked for more effort in the final term and that is exactly what he got. Lachie Douglas looked to tackle anything that moved, while Abe Spencer and Hudson Kuschert chased hard. Billy Barlow had a breakout quarter, putting his head down and fetching the ball as required and feeding the forward line. In the end, the boys were able to regain control and hold on for a well-deserved win.

Yarrawonga were on the attack from the first bounce catching our boys napping with multiple inside 50s in the first 5 minutes. The Yarra mids were running hard through the corridor giving their forwards repeat opportunities. Our backline was working overtime, Brodie and Ajay were terrific on the last line with pressure acts and clearing the danger area.
Emmett battled valiantly in the ruck against taller opposition, Benji and Hunter worked tirelessly in the midfield and were rewarded with goals.
In the end, the bigger opposition proved too much for the Roos, running out with a comfortable win.

Sunday saw the lads take on river rival Yarrawonga at the Wahgunyah football oval.
With almost a full complement to choose from for the first time this year, hopes were extremely high.
Right from the first bounce, the Roos attacked the ball with genuine desire and the results showed on the score board.
Tom Forest would dominate the ruck and around the ground all day, and when he needed a rest Brodie Julian filled those shoes with easily his best game of the year.
Also, after missing a month with concussion test failures, captain Mitch Parker would steer the ship out of the middle all day at will and dominated, unfortunately Mitch was again carried off the ground late, but this time not concussed just dragged over the boundary with cramp.
Judd Kuschert, Jay Lavis and Angus Massey also had solid first terms, and a 32 point lead at quarter time.
Term 2 continued the same way, another 5 goals to 1 in our favor, the quarter belonged to Isaac Dickinson as he dominated the forward half and kicked another 3 for the term.
Nic Sandral, Caile Duryea, and Jack Eales would cherish the space given to them by their opponents and all contribute big terms.
At half time a 59-point lead pleasing to Coach Rippingale, unlike another failed Saturday quaddie from the day before.
The third term was a complete shutdown of Yarrawonga’ s players and was all one-way traffic, 7 goals to no score.
The only blemish being Jackson Bolgers concussion and he too has a test to pass next to be able to play.Don’t ask captain Mitch for any pointers on that scorecard.
Best players for the term Brodie Eyers, Eddie Kreutzburger and Jackson Hargraeves taking their turn in the middle.
Term 4 saw us carry over a 105-point lead, so a few changes were made to give everyone a go,
Judd Kuschert would spend more time forward and end with 5 goals for the day, Isaac Dickinson’s day would see him finish on 9 majors and still not enough for an award,10 required apparently.
Harry Ireland would come to life and have his best quarter of footy in the pocket, and when our 14s fill in Benji Hanrahan goaled late, the game would finish with a 120-point win.
The usually reliable defensive line was not really tested this week, some would say in holiday mode, possibly extra training this week for that lot. Training at the pool Tuesday don’t forget.
