Our A Grade team had a ripping game versus another quality team, the third on the ladder Bulldogs.
Disciplined ball movement in attack and strong team defence put the girls two goals down leading into the last quarter.
Ultimately Wodonga ran away with a 17 to 12 goal final quarter.
A big congratulations to Elouise Barlow for making her Ovens and Murray A grade debut.
She entered the game at centre with immediate impact, creating a turnover with her first touch of the game.

Docs (club 1): Tamir Richardson stood tall in the midcourt; playing all three positions, she was patient in attack, finding circle edge beautifully and applying strong pressure in defence, a crucial link in transition.
Canteen (club 2): Mikaela Trethowan provided crucial tips and intercepts for the team with infectious tenacity, her speed and agility catching the Bulldogs off-guard on numerous occasions.
Players’ Player and Opposition’s MVP: Lisa French continued her fine form, holding strong all day, facing multiple opponents and putting up a whopping 46 at 80 per cent; A huge effort.
B Grade
Corowa Rutherglen 44 def Bulldogs 43
B Grade had another close encounter this week snagging a one goal win. After too many silly errors in the first quarter and not taking care of our possession, we found ourselves down by 7.
The Roos recomposed and clawed their way back into the game, performing with much more poise in the second and maintaining the seven-goal deficit in a goal-for-goal performance.
The girls stood up in the third quarter finding another gear and pegging the defecit back in a dominating 13-5 quarter performance, coming out ahead by a goal.
The final term was a tussle, breaking even with 13 apiece.
Their finish again showed their grit and never-quit attitude when they tune in and step into their own game plan, trusting the ball and each other while using rolling subs to keep the dynamic shifting and adapting.

Club 1: Sophie Morey was relentless with early pressure, holding the GA accountable for every move and picking up many opportunities for their attackers to convert.
Origin clothing: Tori Sampson trusted the process and turned the physicality of Wodonga’s midcourt defensive efforts in her favour, doing the early work to expose the space her early prelims created.
Canteen: Kelsea Bullivant was essential in finding circle edge, finishing the drive to pull contact or open space for her teammates, and showed finesse and poise with her feeds yet again.

C Grade
Corowa Rutherglen 46 drew with Bulldogs 46
C Grade shared the points with Wodonga in a thrilling 46 draw after a hard-fought contest that went right down to the final whistle.
The Roos came out strongly to be level at 13-all after the opening quarter before Wodonga edged ahead by two goals at half-time.
Despite trailing 38-35 at the final break, they refused to give in, producing a determined final quarter to outscore the Bulldogs 11-8 and earn a well-deserved draw.
The match was played at a high intensity for all four quarters, with both sides trading momentum throughout.
Corowa's resilience, defensive pressure and composure under pressure were key factors in fighting back late, with every player contributing to a strong team performance.
Awards
Club 1: Keeley had a huge impact when she took the court, applying relentless defensive pressure and making her opponent work for every possession; her intensity, ability to create turnovers and willingness to contest every ball helped lift the team at crucial moments.
Club 2: Niamh was outstanding in defence, using her strong positioning, timing and aerial presence to consistently disrupt Wodonga's attacking play; she was composed under pressure and produced several crucial intercepts and rebounds to keep Corowa in the contest.
Club 3: Jemma worked tirelessly through the midcourt, providing endless drive and linking defence to attack; her work rate, calm decision-making and ability to create attacking opportunities were instrumental in helping the team fight back and secure the draw.
Under 17s
Corowa Rutherglen 31 def by Bulldogs 56
The Under 17s came up against a classy Wodonga Bulldogs outfit on the weekend.
They knew they had a big task ahead and set themselves the challenge of starting well, maintain their intensity throughout the game, and finishing strong.
And they certainly delivered.
Whilethey didn’t come away with the win, the game reflected the heart, determination, connection, and transition play they have been working hard to build within the team.
The effort and commitment shown by every player was something to be proud of.

Club 1: Lilyana Murray-Wright played an outstanding game at WD; her agility and acceleration played a crucial role in shutting down Wodonga’s midcourt and attacking end, providing a fantastic option in transition and working tirelessly to bring the ball out of defence.
Club 2: Dekoda Smith produced yet another fantastic performance in defence, relentlessly reading the play, putting her body on the line, and attacking every contest to come away with important intercepts; it made her performance even more special as she celebrated her birthday on game day.
Club 3: Grace Milthorpe was outstanding in GA, with her presence at the attacking end second to none, and her ability to turn and shoot was fantastic, sinking long-range shots all day and providing a strong target for the attacking unit.
Well done to the entire team for their effort, determination, and commitment.
They continue to build each week and are excited to keep growing together.
Under 15s
Corowa Rutherglen 18 def by Bulldogs 73
Corowa Rutherglen’s Under 15s faced a tough challenge against a polished and highly competitive Wodonga Bulldogs outfit.
Despite the loss, the girls continued to work hard, showing resilience and determination throughout the match.
They never stopped contesting the ball and remained committed to supporting one another across the court.
Coming up against quality opposition provided valuable experience, and the team can take plenty of positives from their effort, attitude, and willingness to compete until the final whistle.

Sportspower: Harriet Way had a cracking game midcourt with a consistent 60 minutes in C and WA, including great drives, fantastic vision and feed.
Thrive: Isobel Bruce showed for versatility across the court, embracing the swing into the defensive ring like a champion and, as always, was a great leader on the court.
Canteen: Rosie Hicks debuted for Corowa Rutherglen, swinging into the defensive end seamlessly; she provided lots of hands over pressure, rewarding her with intercepts and deflections.
