Rutherglen Ballroom Festival celebrates 10 years.

Thursday night, March 31, the festival started with a 60/40 dance.
Dancers from Sydney, Queensland, Melbourne and many other areas joined locals for a great night of free style dances such as the Cha Cha, Rock n’ Roll, Waltz, Tango, Rumba, Foxtrot, Swing, Jive and special request dances.
Great music supplied by LRE Dance and the night finished with a lovely supper.
The highlight of the night for Claire, 87 years young from Sydney, was a dance with Anthony Pepers, Claire requested the Waltz Evermore. Anthony choreographed this beautiful dance and is local dance teacher in Corowa, lessons every Wednesday night at the wonderful Corowa Memorial Hall.
What a great night to start this Fabulous Weekend.

Last Wednesday night at the Memorial Hall was a huge success with the second week of the beginner’s class.
Dancers have already learnt the Evening Three Step, basic Cha Cha and basic Modern Waltz steps.
This Wednesday is week three of the eight-week course. By the end of the eight course, dancers will have learnt about ten dances.
Also visitors from Newcastle joined the dancing after the beginner’s lesson.

Friday Workshop
At the workshop at the Rutherglen Dance Festival, two beautiful dances were introduced.
Firstly, Waltz of The Angels, this beautiful dance was choreographed by local dancers from Rutherglen, Lesley and Russell Edwards. This dance was very well received by all dancers at the workshop.
Secondly, TAG Tango, this beautiful Tango was choreographed by local dancers from Corowa, Andrea and John Barwick. This Tango was also well received by all dancers at the workshop.
Andrea and John Barwick have compiled a booklet, approximately 30 dances, they have choreographed. These dances are danced all over Australia. For more information, contact John Barwick.

Welcome Dance
Friday night at Rutherglen Dance Festival was a huge night of dancing with the great sound of music by Patti and Tony Gilbert.
The new workshop dances were put to the test, plus, Merrilyn, Tangoette, Cha Cha Shiraz, Jab Samba, La Bomba, Barclay Blues, New Vogue Quickstep and many more.
A lovely supper is always a welcome break to replenish our energy, then continue to dance the night away. What great way to socialise and exercise.
Saturday Night Ball
The ball was a spectacular night of dancing, celebrating the 10th birthday of the Rutherglen Dance Festival. Ladies and gentlemen dressed to the nines danced the night away to the wonderful music of Patti and Tony Gilbert.
This fabulous weekend of dancing is well known around Australia and started with Brenda and the late Ken Tuddenham together with Lesley and Russell Edwards. Each year donations have been made to various charities, particularly CFA Brigades. Approximately $35,000.00
