Hosier returns after the well-documented and challenging period for the club, which led to a strategic decision to reset for the 2024 season.
“I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to those dedicated individuals who continued to represent the Corowa Rutherglen name during this challenging time,” Hosier said, acknowledging the resilience and commitment of the club’s members.
With 40 attendees at the AGM, Hosier said this highlighted the strong support for the reset.
“It was pleasing to see there is still plenty of support,” he said.
“We recognise that there is still a lot of work to do ahead of the start of the next season.”
Outgoing members Roger Bradtke and Craig Spencer were recognised for their tireless efforts over the past few years, particularly during the challenges of the last 12 months.
“I want to thank Roger and Craig for their efforts and wish them both well. They’ve been tremendous for our club.”
The club is currently without a vice president, and Hosier welcomed anyone willing to take on the role.
Rowena Black returns as secretary/treasurer and is also seeking support in these crucial roles.
Moreover, the board has seen the addition of new members, Sophie Hanrahan, Dean Druce, and Brenden Eyers, injecting youth and fresh perspectives. Additionally, Robyn Schilg, Emma Forrest, Jason Marks, and John Elmore are making a return to the board.
Tom O’Connor, who previously served as Ovens and Murray general manager for five years before stepping down from the role in 2012, will continue as a mentor, providing guidance on various club efficiencies.
Hosier acknowledged the support from Ovens and Murray and other clubs in the league, understanding the challenges faced by Corowa and expressing gratitude for their solidarity.
“They understand where we are at, and the work we have to do,” he said.
Looking ahead, the club is anticipating the return of a vibrant Easter crowd and is actively seeking volunteers to assist on the day across many areas including both netball and football.
Hosier drew inspiration from the Shepparton Swans, citing them as a blueprint for overcoming adversity, having successfully navigated the challenges of the 2022 floods and limited club facilities.
“We are very excited about Easter, and we will make it work,” Hosier said addressing logistical challenges with limited clubroom facilities.
As the club moves forward, members and supporters are encouraged to stay tuned for an exciting upcoming event in the next month, signalling more positive developments for the Roos in the 2024 season.
“It’s exciting to see footy being played on John Foord Oval again,” Hosier remarked.
