Eamonn’s Memory, trained by Andrew Dale of Wangaratta, claimed the Cup in style after being guided to victory by jockey Josh Richards.
Part-owner Adrian Grantham was on hand to proudly accept the trophy.
It continued a good run for Dale in local racing.
He was the most successful trainer of the day at the Berrigan Races earlier this year.
In Jerilderie, the Wangaratta trained gelding kicked home on the final straight to win by a length over Nathan Hobson’s Jaz Tycoon from Swan Hill, and local trainer Paul McVicar’s Gobbo’s Mate in third.
The 2025 Jerilderie Gold Cup under way.
Dale’s mare Turnaquid also won race four by less than half a length over another Wangaratta trained runner, Thunder Pace.
While Southern Riverina trainer McVicar did not win the cup race, he was quite active at Jerilderie in five other races.
He had a runner-up finish in the Pumps, Pipes and Power Maiden Handicap (1300m).
With Josh Richards aboard, Lady Emilia passed the finish line second after starting in barrier 11.
McVicar also tried his luck in a few other races, with Blessing Season and Four Esses coming in sixth and eighth respectively in race one, and The Sweeney was eights in race four.
