The Under 17s, buoyed by their first win of the season the previous week, were also eager to continue their winning streak, while the Under 15s completed the sweep, fuelled by the success of their fellow Roos teams.

Under 17s
Roos 55 defeated Tigers 46
The 17s girls came off the high of having the first win of the season last week and their goal this week was to try and do it again!
The first half was a very tight contest, Milly Cheeseman playing in the Centre position alternating with Remy who both did a great job in feeding the ball into Eloise, Alisha and Lily in attack.
Coming into the third quarter, the girls realised that this would be what was going to get them over the line.
They did exactly that and went out hard at the ball, putting lots of defensive pressure on so that they were able to rattle Albury’s attack end.
Milly O’Kane, Audrey, Halle and Jo all went out and did their job turned over a number of balls for the attackers to then score. The last quarter they again stepped it up another level.

Under 15s
Roos 30 defeated Tigers 18
With the C Grade and Under 17s both winning their games, the young Roos girls had a burning fire to make it a clean sweep for the day in front of the home crowd.
From the first pass the girls were placing defensive pressure right across the court which allowed them to find their rhythm and controlling the play, leading at half time 13 to 10.
After the half time break the girls lifted to another level of intensity with Rahni and Keeley cutting through the mid court allowing us to end the third 21 to 14.
The fourth quarter saw some great teamwork between Bree and Millie Eales linking up well out of defence to allow a fast clean entry to Sienna in the circle.
Coach Noel’s feedback to the girls after the contest was if they start every game playing their brand of netball, they can really push every team for the win… “Never say die approach”.
Noel also congratulated the girls for working well together to seal the sweep for the Roos!
Awards
Club 1- Rahni Dickins found a new level of performance on both sides of the play this week. Her growth in her defensive pressure in the centre position was key in assisting the whole team to keep momentum and allowed our defenders to get in the right position to attack the entries in the circle.
Sportspower- Laila van der Meer focus on clearing the space in the goal circle and strong drives to the ball really allowed her team mates to have the confidence to just turn and pass to her or our other shooter. Her ability to either hold position or drive the baseline allowed her to get in the right spots to shoot 11 of our goals for the day.
Docs- Millie Eales game took another step forward this week with her ability to both attack and defend while also shooting from the right position improving week by week. Millie’s skillset to feed the ball into the Roos shooting end showcases her amazing netball IQ for a player her age.
SS&A- Keeley Symonds determination to not only be the first option for her team mates to pass to but also defend her opponent at a very high level was again on display this week. Keeley’s no-nonsense style of play and defensive pressure was again key to the team being in the contest.
MVP- Sophie Sleight defensive presence and ability to work well with other defensive players was a huge boost again for the team. Her physical defensive play limited Albury shooter’s ability to score while also providing the rebounding drive to link up with the Roos gun midcourters.
