The Goulburn Valley Midweek Pennant brought convincing victories, but an impressive Seymour VRI performance has shaken the standings.
Seymour punished Tallygaroopna in a 16-67 to 0-38 rout, as a Paul Rolfe-led opening rink set the tone with a 30-13 victory.
A 21-10 win paved the path to premiership points in the second rink, but the Redlegs rolled home with momentum for next week, only losing the third rink by a single shot, Seymour VRI edging it out 16-15.
It is Tallygaroopna’s first loss of the season and Seymour VRI’s first win, the pair now in the middle of a tight mid-table logjam in fourth and fifth respectively.
Nagambie defeated Euroa to become the only side with three wins after the opening three rounds, but it came in tense fashion, overcoming a six-shot first rink loss to win 14-59 to 2-52.
Euroa has sunk to 0-3 on the year, but its impressive early showing against the ladder-leaders suggest improvement can be expected.
Second and third-placed outfits Shepparton Park and Seymour also fielded wins from Tuesday’s action, Shepparton Park defeating Tatura-Hill Top 14-72 to 2-61 and Seymour trumping Shepparton Golf 14-61 to 2-50.
Round four will see a top-four clash between Shepparton Park and Tallygaroopna, while Seymour VRI could leapfrog a couple of ladder positions if it beats Shepparton Golf.
Nagambie hosts Seymour in another enticing fixture between two bowls heavyweights, while Euroa will aim to score its first win against Tatura-Hill Top at Tatura Bowls Club.
