Since May, The Vault in Shepparton has been turned into a “live music lovers’ kind of paradise” over one weekend each month, providing a unique experience right on locals’ doorstep.
But as winter prepares to say its goodbyes, so do the Winter Sessions, with September being the last chance of the year to attend.
“If you want an experience like this, there’s nowhere else around,” JL Productions and Hire creative designer Jamie Lea said.
“We don’t know when we’ll do it again, so these final shows feel really special.
“It’s right here in 3630.”
The collaboration between JL Productions and Hire and HD Productions offers live, accessible music to all, with the pair putting on free shows at the Obertor on Fryers St on Sundays across the season.
Friday night performances promise a more social, low-key gig experience, perfect for friends, families or individuals looking to get out of the house, with artists acting as background music.
The Saturday shows are then spun into the pinnacle of live music, celebrating each artist’s work, craft and storytelling on a local stage.
Event organisers say they have been blown away by the turnout of the three previous sessions and are encouraging everyone to get around the final shows.
“Turnout has been exceptional, we’re really thrilled,” Jamie said.
“People come hang and chill out on the couch on Friday night, with a glass of red, enjoying some tunes.
“But Saturday night is the gift, it’s the gold, precious gem that every artist wants.”
This season has hit all the right notes, delivering a unique mix-up of talent from across the region, featuring Liv Cartledge from Beechworth, Benny Walker from Echuca and Yours, Georgina from Albury.
Jamie says it’s always important to not only celebrate and support home-grown talent, but also what’s just down the road.
For the first time, the Winter Sessions welcomed an artist in residence, a space where solo artists or bands are given a platform to develop their art, work and connection to audience.
And The Hootie Tooties have embraced the role.
“We’ve seen the evolution of The Hootie Tooties connecting with audience, polishing their storytelling and being able to read the room,” Jamie said.
To keep the momentum going, and end the winter season on a high, cousin duo Skyscraper Stan and Oskar Herbig will headline the September shows.
The pair have spent the better part of 15 years writing, recording and touring together across two studio albums and countless live performances.
Supporting the headline acts will be South Australian indie-folk duo OFTHEWILD and again, one last time, the artists in residence, The Hootie Tooties.
The finals shows will be on Friday, September 4 and Saturday, September 5, with a free live show at the Obertor on Sunday, September 6 to round out the season.
