Kyabram will face Echuca for a fourth time this season when the clubs contest the 2023 Goulburn Valley League grand final at Deakin Reserve in Shepparton on Sunday.

The Bombers return to the big dance after dominating the competition from 2016 right up until the COVID-cancelled season of 2020 — during a four-season period when they lost just one game (a shock loss in the 2018 grand final to Shepparton).

Since the resumption of the Goulburn Valley league, with the reduced 2021 season, Echuca has been the measuring stick and will defend the title it won last year against Euroa.

Kyabram tipped Euroa out of the race in Sunday’s preliminary final and will now confront the reigning premier for a fourth time in 2023. In round two the Murray Bombers beat their Campaspe shire neighbour by 21 points and then in round 13 Echuca dominated at Victoria Park — winning by 37 points.

The second semi-final was as close as Kyabram has come to upsetting Echuca, but it was a third win for the “Green Machine’’ — by 16 points.

Sunday’s senior game is at 3pm, with Seymour and a “stacked’’ Shepparton United team contesting the reserves grand final and the under-18 combatants will be Echuca and Shepparton Swans.

In the netball Echuca and Euora will meet in the A-grade grand final.
