As the Echuca Rotary Club steps away from hosting the event, council is inviting interest from organisations wishing to continue a similar celebration or introduce new event concepts that reflect the interests and diversity of the community.
“Australia Day is an opportunity for our community to come together, connect with one another and celebrate what makes Echuca such a special place to live,” Campaspe Shire Mayor Daniel Mackrell said.
“Whether it's a traditional community gathering, family-focused event or something entirely new, we encourage organisations to put forward their ideas,” he said.
The successful applicant will receive support from council to help cover event costs, including access to in-kind event equipment, Australia Day materials, awards, food and beverages, as well as the co-ordination of councillor attendance where requested.
“Our local community groups play a vital role in creating meaningful events, and we're keen to hear from organisations with ideas that bring people together,” Cr Mackrell said.
Activities should be safe, accessible, family-friendly and respectful of the diverse experiences and cultures within the community.
Expressions of interest close on Sunday, September 13.
