Kyle has been selected to compete in the 89kg class for weightlifting and is currently ranked No.1 in the Oceania Region.
Students were left captivated by Kyle’s stories about his journey, his highs and lows along the way, and what it means to him to represent his country.
They also got to pass around his Commonwealth Games silver medal along with lots of other pieces of Kyle’s memorabilia.
Each student at Lowesdale Public School received a piece of Kyle’s memorabilia from his journey and will write a story about it accordingly.
After the presentation the students participated in some sporting drills run by Kyle and they learnt how to do a snatch, and a clean and jerk which are the two lifts that he will perform in Paris.
Students will follow Kyle’s journey to the Olympic Games and will have the opportunity to connect with him remotely along the way. They are hoping for another visit after the Olympic Games.
In 2022, Kyle won a silver medal at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games, won a Gold Medal in 2022 at the Pan Pacific Games in 2023 and qualified for the Paris Olympic Team on June 2.
The 24-year-old son of the school’s administrative manager Alison Bruce presented Lowesdale Public School with the mascot he received when he won the Gold Medal at the Pan Pacific Games.
Kyle runs a gymnasium in Sydney and is studying a degree in primary school teaching. But right now, it’s full steam ahead for the Paris Olympics.
