The annual general meeting which was to have been held on Wednesday, May 1 had to be rescheduled until Wednesday, May 29 due to lack of numbers.
This rescheduled meeting will take place at the Finley RS Club at 7pm so please consider joining the management committee if at all possible. There is only one meeting per month for about one hour.
The pool plays such an important part in our community, particularly in teaching our young people to swim and is a great physical activity involving members of the Finley Swimming Club.

There is no doubt the Finley MenShed organisation is a great asset to the community in many different ways.
This is one way people of all ages can come together for companionship and take part in the numerous activities available. Women are also welcome to make use of the facilities.
The members of Finley MenShed continue to give back to the community including financially and presentation of donations was on the agenda last Wednesday.
The Finley Toy Library officials were delighted to accept their donation which will assist in purchasing new toys for the young children to be entertained and learn by.
CanAssist Finley Branch will now be able to assist more people in our community going through their journey with cancer.
Finley Little Athletics will be putting their donation to good use in keeping its members physically active.
Finley Public School principal Owen Gill was very thankful for the contribution to the activities at the school, as was Veronica Braybon, principal of St Joseph’s Catholic School.
Finley Regional Care management is extremely excited to have their contribution to go towards the purchase of specialised equipment for handling bedridden residents.
Congratulations must go to the executive and members of Finley MenShed for all these donations with even more spread out over the year.

A small but enlightened number attended the ‘Unlocking Hope – No. 7’ held by the Berrigan Shire Dementia Alliance at the Finley RS Club recently.
A new topic is touched on at each session which is now going on to No. 8 taking place on Thursday June 20, at 10.15am for 10.30am start. The theme for this session will touch on understanding the palliative approach and end of life care.
The recent session with guest speaker Alison Luelf touched on providing carers with guidance on using practical and essential first aid care for loved ones, especially in their later years of life.
When questioned at the end of last week’s session, some ladies felt they have gained so much from attending ‘Unlocking Hope’ as there is a different area of care covered each time.

The Finley Regional Care street stall held last Friday was very successful and the organisers would like to thank all those who contributed in any way to that success.
Winner of the lovely Mother’s Day pamper pack raffle prize was Louisa Bryce.
There are a number of residents of Finley Regional Care who spend time at the Finley MenShed on Mondays and sometimes need assistance.
Anyone who can spare a few hours a week to help supervise the residents while at the MenShed would be most welcome.
For those who are not aware, Finley Regional Care now has a shop open at the facility for residents to take advantage of.
This is another area the organisation needs assistance with and volunteers who can attend between 10am and noon on Mondays would be a great help.

Please take advantage of the opportunity to visit the Men’s Health Education Rural Van (mherv) sponsored by Finley Rotary Club which will be in Finley today and tomorrow between 9.30am and 3.30pm each day.
The van will be located at Finley Centre, 171 Murray Street and available for a free 10-minute health check-up for ‘men, blokes, guys and ladies too’. It could save a life.
This van is a project of the Rotary Club of Warners Bay.

The Finley Art Group has had another successful raffle for Mother’s Day. These raffles are a way to help maintain running the centre.
The winner this year was Jane Middlebrook, and the organisers would like to thank all the townspeople who purchased tickets as it is a way to keep the group going other than the $2 the members pay each visit.
There will be a monthly meeting at the gallery this Saturday, at 10.30am. All members and other interested parties are invited to attend as the group is always hoping to attract new members.
The centre is open two days a week; Tuesdays from 1.30pm and Saturdays from 10.30am. The gallery is situated beside the courthouse in Denison St.

Just a reminder that the Finley Uniting Church movie morning is on again tomorrow at the Uniting Church Hall, Coree St, at 10am.
These movie mornings are a great way to get together and spend time with friends as well as making new friends. All are welcome to attend.
Also, the Finley Uniting Church Service for this Sunday, will start at 10am, not 11am and will be combined with the Tocumwal congregation.

It was lovely to see several Finley residents take part in the Tocumwal Mother’s Day Classic on Sunday.
There was a wonderful response to the event with entries coming from a number of towns in the surrounding area.
So many families are affected by cancer, and it is encouraging to see the support, not only in our own community, but also other towns in close proximity.
