Tony Pearce will arrive by canoe and spend the night in Corowa before continuing his journey down the Murray River over the next few weeks.
Tony is raising money for first responders with PTSD and to raise awareness of this issue.
While in town, he will meet with members of VRA, police, firefighters, ambulance and the public.
Corowa Lions will provide a sausage sizzle for everyone who turns out to greet him.
Tony Pearce, immediate past chair, and current non-executive director of the Emergency Services Foundation (ESF).
Tony’s volunteer role on the ESF board is profoundly personal.
He has been in the emergency services sector for more than 43 years with six of those in the ADF.
During that he saw too many of his colleagues suffer from trauma due to their role in emergency services/management.
This trauma very often resulted in mental injury with lasting impacts throughout their career and their retirement.
Tony has lost friends and colleagues to their illness and now he’s committed to an annual endurance event to raise awareness of this pervasive issue in the emergency services, the work that ESF does in response to this, and to raise money to fund valuable evidence-informed, early intervention programs.
