Corowa 4 def by Knights 14
The sun was shining and the Anzac spirit was in full swing as the Corowa Cougars ladies tag side took the field against the Wangaratta Knights.
Our ladies have struggled for numbers in a new look side and an Anzac SOS to some ex-players meant that we would have enough to field a side.
The game started slowly with Wang scoring an early try while the Corowa ladies settled their nerves.
The game ebbed and flowed with Corowa getting the upper hand to draw level just before half time due to a superman dive in the corner by Georgia Farrington.
The second half started well, but with a mistake from a kick Wang ended up in Corowa’s half, and after 12 minutes of relentless attack Corowa could hold on no more, with a well-constructed inside pass getting Wang over just beside the post.
Corowa finally got some field position but couldn't capitalise with some handling errors being the difference in the end.
A last-ditch attempt to level the scores saw Wang jump on the kick and run 80m to score.
For the Corowa ladies first hit out for the year they certainly did an outstanding job especially with their defensive resolve.
The ladies train on Thursday night in Corowa from 6:30-7:30 and are still looking for some players

It was the first hit-out for the boys, with a lot to work and build on, had a great opening set.
But discipline cost us drastically at the end.
Abi and Emilio were our stand our key players and had many one-out performances.
Our focus going forward will be to play together as a team.
