A tough day for our A graders coming up against a unforgiving Myrtleford side. Myrt came ready to play and unfortunately a slow start proved costly for our girls who fought hard to peg back the lead.

Club 1 and Player’s Player: After 4 blistering quarters in B grade, Sophie Morey stepped up for A grade, bringing positivity and providing plenty of defensive wins for the girls.
Club 2 (canteen): Ange DeMamiel produced a solid and consistent four-quarter effort, with composure in attack and working hard in defence.
Ange Demamiel was one of Corowa Rutherglen’s best during A Grade’s close loss to Myrtleford on Saturday.
B Grade
Corowa Rutherglen 67 def Myrtleford 34
The Roos’ B grade girls came out of the gates firing on the weekend, kicking off the game with an impeccable 21-7 first quarter blitz.
They followed it up with another exceptionally high scoring 20-9 second quarter.
Despite taking their foot off the pedal just a little from that point, they continued to play with intensity, fully connected in love and won every quarter for the day.
The Roos came away with a convincing win, edging their way back up the tight B grade ladder to fourth position, one game off the top of the table.
A totally connected team effort and clinical netball performance consistently across the four quarters at both ends of the court this week made awards difficult to choose.
Courtney Haigh, Sophie Morey and Audrey Hogan were among the best for B Grade as the Roos took apart the Saints by 33 goals.
Awards
Club 1: Kelsea Bullivant was incredible in the midcourt, hitting circle edge and bringing drive to the attack end, and still having the finesse to read the play and deliver beautifully placed balls to the shooters.
Essential Beauty: Courtney Haigh was consistent as the last line of defence all game, connecting and combining with the whole defensive end as a complete unit to force errors and turn the ball over time and time again for the attackers to convert.
Canteen: Elouise Barlow was a powerhouse at C across the entire game, never dropping her high work rate or discipline while throwing everything she had to turn the ball over, connecting seamlessly with the shooters from circle edge.
C Grade
Corowa Rutherglen 57 def Myrtleford 37
C Grade’s Adeline Corbett looks for an entry to goal as the Roos’ defeated Myrtleford by 20 goals.
C grade produced one of their most complete performances of the season, defeating Myrtleford by 20 goals on Saturday.
The Roos came out with great intensity, setting the tone early to take a 5-goal lead at quarter time before extending the margin to 13 at the main break.
The girls maintained their relentless defensive pressure and composed ball movement throughout the second half to secure an impressive 57-37 victory.
It was a true team performance, with every player contributing to the result.
With finals approaching, the win provides plenty of confidence as the team looks to carry this momentum into the remaining rounds.
Awards
Club 1: Niamh Lavis was outstanding in defence, applying relentless pressure and consistently winning crucial turnovers.
Club 2: Lisa Mulcahy dominated the defensive end with strong body work, intercepts and excellent communication.
Club 3: Adeline Corbett led the shooting circle with confidence, converting accurately and providing a strong target throughout the match.
Under 17s
Corowa Rutherglen 25 def by Myrtleford 56
Under 17s Dakota Smith and Lilyana Wright tried their best but the Roos were unable to contain the Saints on Saturday.
The Under 17s came up against a classy, top 5 team in Myrtleford on the weekend, and Myrtleford were too good on the day, displaying some great netball.
Awards
Club 1: Lilyana Murray-Wright played a beautiful game in the defensive end, turning the ball over and transitioning down the court, while also playing an encouraging leadership role.
Club 2: Dekoda Smith was relentless in defence as always, her ability to read the play and turn over ball second to none.
Club 3: Kayley Butera played a great game across the midcourt and defensive end, her ability to transition ball in attack while incorporating strong defensive pressure at the defensive end was great.
Under 15s
Corowa Rutherglen 21 def by Myrtleford 24
Under 15s Zahli Demamiel leaps in defence as the Roos go down in a tight loss to Myrtleford by just three goals.
Corowa Rutherglen’s Under 15s produced a spirited performance despite going down to Myrtleford by just three goals.
Trailing by nine goals at half time, the girls showed tremendous determination to fight their way back into the contest with a superb second half.
Their teamwork, resilience, and belief in one another were outstanding, as every player contributed to the comeback.
Refusing to give up until the final whistle, the team’s effort and character are a credit to the club.

Sportspower: Charlotte Lake showed great leadership with her 60-minute performance in the midcourt, standing up to compose the attacking end in the second half.
Allure: Taylor Francis’ shutdown role in WD and her hard work to isolate the opposition’s WA took that position out of Myrtleford's game.
Canteen: Elise O’Bryan had a stellar performance at GK; coming onto the court in the second half, she brought an intensity that contributed to the comeback in the second half, and played the rest of the game with a broken wrist, showing her determination and commitment to the team.
