The Corowa Cougars battled hard in both men’s and women’s games for mixed results against the Wombats on the road.
Sunday saw the Corowa Cougars travel to Baranduda to play against the Wodonga Wombats.

Both games of were sure to be fast paced and extremely competitive from both sides.

This week was all about growth, with the team trialling several positional changes to continue developing their versatility.
Every player embraced their new role, and it was fantastic to see how well everyone adapted while continuing to improve as a team.
Their ball movement was the best it has been all season, with players creating options on both sides of the field and starting to play more eyes-up football.
The attack looked far more confident, and it was great to see the girls backing themselves and supporting each other in play.
Defensively, the communication and effort across the field were outstanding.
While the scoreboard didn’t reflect the progress they’ve made, everyone came away feeling positive with many of the girls saying it was the strongest attacking performance they’d produced this season.
Most of the opposition’s tries came from the individual speed and talent of a few standout players rather than a lack of effort from the Cougar’s defence.
There are plenty of positives to take away from the game, and the improvements they’re seeing each week are a credit to the commitment and hard work of this group.
The Cougars will continue building on combinations and look forward to taking a step forward next week at their home ground against the Bears.
Lily Art and the Cougars women put up a strong defence all game but were undone by a few individually brilliant performances from the opposition.

Men’s Tackle
Cougars 44 def Wombats 22
After a disappointing performance last week, the Cougars responded in the best possible way with a convincing victory over the Wombats.
With several players unavailable, a couple of the club's old boys pulled the boots back on to help, and their experience proved invaluable.
While the Wombats have had a tough run with injuries this season, the Cougars can only beat the side in front of them, and they did exactly that.
Once the boys found their rhythm, they were outstanding.
The attack flowed freely and, although there is still work to do defensively, the team showed exactly what they're capable of with nine different try scorers crossing the line in a great reflection of a side playing for each other rather than relying on individuals.
A special mention goes to Leo, who celebrated his first try of the season in style by embracing ‘Jai July’ with a classic Jai Arrow try celebration, much to the enjoyment of everyone watching.
The challenge now is to build on this performance and carry the momentum into next week's clash.

Next Sunday the Corowa Cougars head back to their home ground here at Corowa Airport to battle it out against the Border Bears.
