On Sunday the Corowa Cougars travelled to Sarvaas Park to play against their longest running rivals in the Storm Goulburn Murray Premiership, the Wangaratta Knights.

They last met back in Round Five, with both clubs coming a long way since then.
Week after week, the Cougars women and men continue to grow in confidence, intensity, and teamwork, becoming more dangerous every time they take the field.
Expecting Wangaratta to be tough opposition, the Cougars were ready to give them a real run for their money in what are shaped to be two fantastic games of League Tag and Tackle.

The Cougars women went into the match quietly confident after the steady progress they have made each week.
Unfortunately, that confidence may have worked against them, with the girls unable to produce their best football against a Knights side that was simply better on the day.
Corowa created several promising opportunities in the first half but could not capitalise, forcing a few unnecessary passes and missing chances to build pressure.
The second half saw the Cougars spending much of their time defending, with the Knights crossing for several tries after a a few missed tags and fatigue setting in.
While the result was not what the team was hoping for, the commitment and determination remain strong.
The Cougars will continue to turn up every week, work hard on their skills, and keep building as a team and having fun together.

Sunday’s match showed plenty of effort, with some strong defensive tackles and a number of promising line breaks creating opportunities.
However, a lack of discipline, poor ball control, and allowing frustration to take over ultimately hurt their performance.
The result from this game hurts, but it’s a reflection of the standards they set for themselves and the decisions they make on the field.
Now more than ever the team will reevaluate and ensure their club’s core values (respect, discipline, and sportsmanship) are instilled when they pull on their jersey.
They will learn from their performance, keeping emotions under control, supporting one another, and ensuring their actions reflect the pride they have in representing their club.
How they respond from here will define them far more than the result.

The weekend was about more than rugby in the community.
The Albury Muddogs were supporting MND Australia through the Jai Arrow fundraiser, with all funds raised by the club going towards the fight against Motor Neurone Disease.
The Cougars were proud to support such a meaningful initiative, with their players shooting a few arrows to celebrate their tries while helping raise awareness for such a significant cause.
The Cougars are off to Baranduda next weekend, where they play against the Wodonga Wombats.
