The Rovers are coming off strong showings in both the netball and football, away at Berrigan last week.
Backing that up at home is what is required of the Rovers against Picola United.
The majority of Picola’s senior netball and football sides have started the season with a record of at least four wins and one loss so far.
As such, the Rovers will be encountering teams that will be looking to continue to win.
The Rovers senior footballers got back into the winner’s column against Berrigan and coach Alex Hay said the performance highlighted how they want to play.
“Last weekend was a really positive result; a step in the right direction to getting back to the kind of football that we were looking for.
“Berrigan were a really solid outfit and strong in the contest which had stopped us from playing our running game in the last few weeks so it was a big focus to try and get the game on the outside.
“It probably wasn't until the second half that we were able to do that.
“I thought that our mids were huge with their work rate and players like Waylon (Johncock), Jimmy (Falcone) and Taj Payne were able to get the reward in open space.
“Our backs were good, especially under some real heat early. Berrigan got the jump on us, but the composure was a good sign of maturity.
“Connor Didcock was huge in shutting out their main avenue to goal, which went a long way to us winning the game.”
Against Picola, Hay said there will be emphasis on playing as well as they did last week.
“I want the team to play much the same as how we executed on the weekend.
“We won't look to change too much. The focus now becomes repeating that consistent effort and application each week.
“Our pressure was good again, but we looked particularly dangerous when we could control the game from the back half and shift teams side-to-side, then put some speed on the ball forward of centre.”
Despite the league bye a week later, Hay said the team’s thinking will be centred on getting a positive result against Picola.
“The bye certainly won't change the way we approach the game this weekend.
“We are really only in the position to take each week as it comes, and it's critical that we back this weekend up with another good performance.
“Otherwise, you're back to square one.”
