The Cats showed resilience throughout the contest, with plenty of players continuing to compete and work for each other right to the final siren.
There were positive signs from several younger players who never stopped attacking the contest and looking to create opportunities.

The Cats Under 17s faced off against the Barnawartha Tigers at Barnawartha, with both teams eager for a win—Barnawartha seeking their first victory of the season and Rutherglen aiming to build momentum.
The match was set against challenging wet and slippery conditions, compounded by Rutherglen's injury list, which promised to make for a tough day on the field.
The first quarter was a scrappy affair as both teams struggled to find their rhythm, with neither able to score a major.
At quarter time, only one point separated the two teams, reflecting the tight contest.
In the second quarter, Barnawartha managed to break the deadlock, scoring a goal that gave them a seven-point lead at the main break.
The midfield of Logan Poole, Jaylen Cracknell and Harry Chandler battled hard.
The Tigers continued to apply pressure in the third quarter, launching numerous shots on goal and extending their lead to 14 points.
Rutherglen, despite the best efforts in the backline of Arthur Morris, Tyler Yeoman, Elijah McFarlane and Jack Chandler faced constant pressure.
The Cats struggled to gain any momentum despite a goal from Zavier Manns.
Ultimately, the final margin was 13 points in favour of the Tigers.
Rutherglen will need to regroup and focus on their strategies during the week off, looking forward to bouncing back as several players return from injury.
The team’s development remains a priority, and they will be eager to improve in their next outing.

This week we travelled to Barnawartha to take on the Tigers in the first wet game of the season.
The Tigers burst out of the blocks, kicking an early goal, and for the first half of the quarter controlled the game.
To the young Cats credit, they fought back, going into the quarter time break one point down.
The second quarter was an even contest with the young Cats hitting the front due to a great goal off the boundary from Logan Field, and the third quarter would see the Cats take control of the game with the whole team lifting.
Well led by Noah Cracknell and Codie J Wood in a tough wet weather contest, the Cats showed a lot of grit and determination to run out winners against a competitive Tiger outfit.
Well done, Cats!

The Cats travelled to Barnawartha this week to take on the Tigers.
Conditions were terrible, drizzling rain and cold, even with the lights turned on at 7:30am.
The kids made a great contest of it against a much bigger experienced side, unfortunately going down to the Tigers.

Some Promising signs, even after a loss, through great defensive pressure which has begun to make connections when bringing the ball down.
The attack sat deeper and worked the ball around to the circle edge to feed the shooters, whether it was a high or low ball to Georgie, or a rocket pass through defenders to find Tahni.
Keep up the great teamwork and skill set A grade!

An unfortunate, tiresome loss that was probably lost before they took to the court, although some players got much needed court time in defence.
Despite this, some individual determination and never-say-die attitude to Abbie & Nova.

For the first game of the season in wet conditions, the girls played well and held on to a very slippery ball.
Rutherglen took the first half getting used to the conditions, but came out firing in the second half.
Milly Morris played a strong four quarters, leading on the court.
She put up plenty of goals and defended her way down the court, always working hard to get the ball back or a turnover.
Ella McCurdy had strong drives and adjusted well by holding her space on a very strong defender in the mid court, and backed up the shooters around the ring all game.
They played well as a team and backed each other up all over the court in the wet conditions.

With the first wet-weather game of the season, Barny adapted to the conditions better early on, while Rutherglen took some time to settle and find momentum.
Credit to the Cats, who kept working hard throughout the match.
They began driving the ball forward with more purpose, focused on shorter passages of play, and supported each other well across the court.
There were plenty of positive signs from the team, with everyone showing great grit and determination to stay competitive despite the challenging conditions.
They'll enjoy the bye this weekend, then come back fresh, focused, and ready for a strong contest against the Swans.
