The Production Sedans will compete in a feature event as will the visiting Australian Motor Contest Association racers.
The Goulburn Ovens Sedan Association has vital points up for grabs and Standard Saloons Sports Sedans, Junior Sedans and Unlimited Sedans will all compete.
Fans will be able to arrive early and come into the pits at a 1pm arranged pit walk that allows fans the opportunity to seek autographs, buy merchandise and even be afforded an opportunity to sit in race cars.
Freshly crowned Victorian Production Sedan champion and Corowa–Rutherglen Speedway Club life member, Trevor Mills, leads the nominations in the Wahgunyah 1000 with his long-time rival Stephen Laidlaw also on track.
Marcus Maclean, Tom Barnard and Brayden Creek will represent the host club with regular visitors to Corowa Michael Sayers, Rodney Anderson, Nick Hill, Brett Norman, Martin Heiner and Nathan Shortis all keen to win the big race.
Australian Motor Contest Association racers, widely known as AMCA Nationals, will compete for the Winter Shootout event, which also doubles for bragging rights in a Victoria versus New South Wales state of origin.
Interestingly, both states struggle to beat Rodney Bassett from Tasmania who just loves the local community and this race event.
Bassett will be back this weekend and is one of the favourites, while representing Victoria will be Michael and Frank Thierry, Stephen Hopkins, Brody Petrou, Dean Heseltine, and Justin Richardson.
Production Sedan racer Rodney Anderson from Albury in car 17 will be competing this weekend.
Representing New South Wales is David Ford, Peta Lewington, Andrew Ash, and John Markulin.
Competition in the Goulburn Ovens Sedans Association will be terrific as usual.
Tommy and Benny Schmetzer, last meeting’s winner Brandan Lovell, and Daniel McCarten, all club members, are just some of the favourites to be first across the line come final time.
Others representing the Corowa-Rutherglen prefix include Alex Nichols, Stu Balins, Robert Williams, Shane Barkley, Smauel Failla, Team Joosten, and Sam Schmedje.
Micheal Fleming-Robertson is the favourite in the Standard Saloons this weekend, with Russ Stone and Rhyse Lavender representing locals, and in Junior Sedans Kade Brockley and Lucas Williams are keen to win in front of their families.
Ladies Sports Sedans will combine on track and compete with male competitors in Sports Sedans.
Kylie Creek is every chance of receiving the keys from daughter Chloe Creek on Sunday, Kylie a regular on track fifteen years ago or so.
The popular Unlimited Sedans are also competing.
With Ash Booker, Garry Coates, Brendon Eames and Darren Dalton all members of the host club, outside competition will come from Corey McDonald and his two cars with a second driver not yet confirmed.
Gates open to the public on Sunday from 11am.
Racing starts at 3pm.
A full canteen operates on site with hot, cold food and drinks.
Entry is $25 for adults whilst the club offers aged pensioners and Children aged 12 to 16 a $15 entry.
Children under twelve are free.
Family tickets are $60 for two adults and three children from 12 to 16 years old.
Australian Defence Force veterans with the appropriate veterans cards, enter for free.
