Harry, who is only 16, is a huge talent and has produced many stunning performances in his pursuit of a career in the sport.
He has a highest competition break of 131, has represented the UK Under-16 team twice, posted great results in European junior titles, and has also participated in World Under-19 Championships.
Harry practises daily for four to five hours and, according to club champion and Australian representative Adrien Ridley, demonstrates great potential for further improvement.
ClubMulwala Snooker Club members wish him all the best in his future endeavours.
Despite Harry Wyatt’s best efforts, however, he could not defeat the club’s own up-and-comer, Luca Macheda, when the six-red event was contested on March 30.
Large fields have been contesting these events, and this was no exception, with both finalists working their way through multiple qualifying rounds to reach the decider.
Congratulations go to Luca on another great result, and to Harry for performing so well in a new environment.
The Club Challenge for April was contested on April 6, and Debbie Harbrow showed a clean pair of heels to another large contingent of participants when she defeated Ashley Nicholls in the final.
Debbie is on the comeback trail after a significant injury, so progressing through multiple rounds is a great achievement. Well played, Deb.
Congratulations also to Ashley, who is returning to form after a period of work-related snooker inactivity.
The social evening on April 1 was played in a doubles format due to the high number of entrants.
The irrepressible Kev Young teamed up with Ashley to take the honours over Harry Wyatt and Dan Young. After this event, Harry is certain to have an expanded repertoire of stories to share with his snooker colleagues back in Bournemouth.
The social event of April 8 was won by Marty Dermeitezel, who prevailed over Ian Irvine. Very well done, gentlemen, and congratulations to both players.
An innovation at ClubMulwala Snooker Club is the monthly “Pot the Black” shootout, played prior to the regular Club Challenge event. All contestants are given a chance to pot the black off its spot, with a cash prize awarded to any successful cueist.
Monday, April 6 was Dave Arzuhaldzic’s time to shine as he potted the black to collect the cash. Lovely work, Dave.
It would be remiss not to highlight the performance of club stalwart, current treasurer and committee member, and former club champion Jason Bassett in his role as tournament director at the annual Yarrawonga Lawn Tennis Club Easter Tournament.
Jason is a modest individual who rightly points out that he is part of a large team in arranging and running this spectacular event, but he still deserves special praise for his efforts.
His legendary status is confirmed for at least one more year.
