Those words chorused out into the Star Casino venue on the Gold Coast last weekend, as Shepparton-born Muay Thai fighter James Honey’s hand was raised.
A sweet knockout blow ensured ‘’Sweet As’’ Honey remains world middleweight champion in his martial arts discipline, defending his World Muay Thai Organisation crown secured in August last year.
Honey defeated Josh Hill in August to earn the right to the middleweight belt, but was challenged by a fresh competitor from across the globe.
At the ‘War on the Shore’ event, Honey’s knockout punch occurred in the second round against his United Kingdom competitor Joe Craven.
The feat marks Honey as the first Australian male to defend a WMO world title after defeating Craven in the Sunshine State on Saturday.
It was regarded as an early contender for knockout of the year, in a highlight reel-worthy showstopper against a highly touted opponent.
Testing Craven with a couple of jabs, Honey landed a right handed punch to the chin to drop the UK fighter to the canvas, ending the fight in spectacular style.
Honey took to social media post-fight to thank his team and Craven for the major victory.
“Massive thank you to (Joe Craven) for coming out and a pleasure to share the ring with you,” he wrote.
“Finally got to showcase what I can do in the ring and very proud of my performance, so glad to showcase it on (War of the Shore).
“A massive thank you to my team and all the boys in the gym that help me day in and day out.”
