Five swimmers from Yarrawonga Mulwala Swimming Club made an impressive start to the 2026 short course season at the opening Ovens & Murray District Swimming Association meet, hosted by Wodonga City Swimming Club at the Wangaratta Sports & Aquatic Centre.

The meet attracted more than 200 swimmers from across the district, along with competitors from other regional and metropolitan clubs, providing strong competition and an exciting start to the winter racing calendar.
Representing Yarrawonga Mulwala, the club's small team produced some excellent performances, recording strong results and valuable personal best times against quality opposition.
Ella Hollister (16) enjoyed an outstanding meet, recording three personal best performances, including an impressive 1.08-second improvement in her 100m Freestyle. Darcy Cox (18) also achieved a personal best in the 50m Breaststroke.
The club's three youngest swimmers were competing at their first short course meet and rose to the occasion with excellent performances. Thomas Minogue (8) claimed the gold medal in the Boys 8 & Under 50m Breaststroke after taking an impressive 3.69 seconds off his personal best. He also added a bronze medal in the 50m Freestyle.
Lexie Smith (8) competed in two events and finished first in the Girls 8 & Under 50m Backstroke, while Elyse Minogue (7) thoroughly enjoyed making her short course debut in the junior 25m events.
The club now looks forward to the remaining Ovens & Murray District meets as swimmers continue working towards district, country and state championship qualification throughout the season.
