The council has earned its Sustainable Tourism Accreditation through the Australian Quality Tourism Framework — the result of a rigorous accreditation process driven by council’s tourism and events team.
The accreditation recognises organisations that operate responsibly across environmental, social, cultural and economic areas.
It offers independent confirmation that the council's tourism efforts meet nationally recognised sustainability standards — giving visitors, local operators, investors and government agencies greater confidence in the region.
Mayor Daniel Mackrell said the accreditation reflected the council's commitment to responsible tourism management.
“Achieving Sustainable Tourism Accreditation is not just receiving a certification badge,” he said.
“It demonstrates that Campaspe Shire is committed to managing tourism responsibly, protecting the natural and cultural assets that make our region special, and ensuring the benefits of tourism are shared across our communities.”
Victorian Tourism Industry Council chief executive Lisa Patroni welcomed the achievement and said it reflected Campaspe Shire’s “commitment to excellence, innovation and sustainable development”.
Looking ahead, the accreditation is set to open doors to new partnerships, funding opportunities and tourism development projects that will further strengthen the Campaspe region.
