It is an important fixture for both clubs, with classic ‘eight-pointers’ spread across the netball and the football.
Dookie United are particularly strong in senior netball, one game behind the undefeated Rovers in A-grade and B-grade.
Both clubs are the last remaining teams with flawless records in C-grade, and the Rovers are two games behind an unbeaten Dookie United side in C-Reserve.
In football, all teams are in the top eight, with at most two wins separating the teams that face off this weekend.
In the seniors, Dookie are fourth on the ladder with five wins and two losses, while the Rovers are in eighth with four wins and three losses.
The Rovers are coming off a 51-point loss to the top of the ladder, Waaia.
Rovers coach Alex Hay said the performance was better than the scoreline suggested.
“I've got an interesting take on the game after the weekend,” he said.
“They are such a quality side, and I was pleased that for the most part.
“We were able to play our style on both sides of the ball and I think that it stacked up, so that certainly was a positive.
“We probably fell away through half forward at different stages, and had to surge inside 50. That's where we lacked some method and our entries let us down a little bit.
“That then meant we weren't able to get the scoreboard going to accumulate any pressure.
“On the flip side of that, there were a few five to six minute patches where they really made us pay on turnover and scored at will.
“That was my focus post game. We played well, but to lose momentum and let one or two goals turn into five is where it's won and lost against good sides.”
Hay said the Rovers’ opponents this weekend has improved since a three goal loss in the same fixture last season.
“Dookie have recruited really well and look to just be playing really consistent footy.
“They were a real challenge last year on their home deck, and they play a big ground pretty well.
“They had some contested style mids that were efficient in getting the ball to the outside, which we will have to put some time into, and a couple of individuals who are quite dangerous forward of the ball.
“The last month has been pretty physical, and we'll expect something similar this weekend.”
The Rovers are hoping to have a healthier squad this weekend and come away with a win.
Hay said it would be a great reward heading into the club’s Sheep Races and 250 Club event on Sunday.
“Brendan Hope was a late out last week so it will be good to have him back but, at the moment, team selection is a week-to-week proposition.
“There are a few in the reserves putting some pressure on spots, which we probably haven't had a great deal of over the last couple of years due to injury.
“Hopefully, we'll start to hit full health at some stage and build some consistency in the next block.”
